I spent the weekend laying a new floor in our upstairs hallway. AI couldn’t do it for me… BUT I actually got a lot of help from both Claude and ChatGPT!
I still had to get on my knees, measure twice, cut once (ok, maybe three times), and figure out why the subfloor wasn’t level.
But AI helped me build a plan. I took photos at Jumbo and Hornbach on the product shelves and it helped me pick the right products, and when something unexpected came up we worked through it together.
This got me thinking about the 3 ways you can actually work with AI:
- Automation: AI does the work, you give the instructions
- Augmentation: you and AI work together, you’re still doing the job but better
- Agency: AI works independently on your behalf
This weekend was pure augmentation. The floor is done and it looks great!
